1 SCOPE
This Standard establishes dimensions for LPG fue!
cylinders used on powered industrial trucks.
2 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Standard is to promote theinterchangcability of 20#、33.5#and 43.5# LP-Gascylinders used on powered industrial trucks.
3 INTERPRETATION
3.1 Mandatory and Advisory Rules
To carry out the provisions of this Standard,allitems are mandatory except those including the wordshotld,which are recommendations.
3.2 Requests for Interpretation
The B56 Cornittee will render an interprctation ofany requirement of this Standard. The interpretationswill be rendered only in response to a written requestsent to the Secretary of the B56 Committee,ASMEThree Park Avenue,New York.NY 10016S990.Therequest for interpretation shall be in the followingformat:Subject:

4 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTIONSTANDARDS
(a)LP-Gas fuel cylinders shall be constructed ofsteel or aluminum and shall conform to the appropriateASME,Department of Transportation (DOT).andTransport Canada (TC) Standards. DOT andTC cylin-ders shall have a minimum service pressure rating of240 psi (16 bar).
NOTE: Newly constructed cylinders used in Canada require TCmarkings. Cylinders manufactured to TC standards contain metricmarkings. Cylinders used in the United Srates require DOT markingsSomne cylinders are manufactured and dual marked to allow fillingand usc in hoth counries (eg-.DOT-4BA240 -TC4BAM161.
(b)LPG fuel cylinders shall be constructed to engageasubstantial positioning pin or an equivalent meansto provide for intended positioning of the cylinder(See Fig1,G)
(c)LPG fuel cylinders shall be filled (see Table l)by weight only or by either weight or volume.(d) LPG fuel cylinders. which can be flled by eitherweight or volume. shall have a fxed liquid level gauge
5 MARKINGS
Cylinders shall be marked in accordance withNFPA 58
6 DIMENSIONAL DETAIL (See Fig.1)
(a) Pressure relief device with captive rain cap shalldischarge at 45 deg from horizontal with cylinder in horizontal or vertical position. Relief valve dischargeshall be provided with clear passage without impingingon head ring. Relief valye inlet shall cuntact vapurspace of filled cylinder when mounted horizontally orvertically.
(b) Hand hole may be enlarged from point of contactwith the cylinder to curl on top side to maintain a l-in.(25-mm) clearance for liquid service shut-off devicecxtended centerline within window arca.(c) A liquid service shut-off valve shall be installedand it shall have a fow check valve.
